Endless Haze - Kano Shuuya x Shy!Reader [Part 3]

“[Y/n], I’d appreciate it if you’d stop being so shy.” Kano smiled in a light hearted way as the two of you strolled side by side in main street. Your face began blushing red and you couldn’t string up the right words to know how to respond to that. “I-Is it a bad thing?” You stuttered with a mix of offense and shyness. Kano chuckled to himself and cocked his head towards you. “No, not at all. I find your shyness rather cute.” He smirked. “But it would be nice if we had an actual conversation, ya know. . .” You heavily sighed feeling like you’re not worth anything for no apparent reason. I’m not good enough, am I? “Okay, sorry.”
 
Awkward silence.
 
“Oh yeah, since the past month you’ve been with us, I haven’t gotten a chance to know anything about you, besides your name. Mind telling me anything about yourself?” He asked.
You didn’t reply right away. “Uhm, I guess I have no family at the moment and-“
“Actually- you’re mistaken. The Mekakushi Dan is considered your family, considering we care about you” Kano interrupted with a faint smile. He then realized that he accidently interrupted you. “Ah- sorry. Go on.” You shyly giggled. “There’s actually not much to know about me. My life is quite bland, you see.” You lied. You hate how your childhood ended. You hate how constantly lonely you feel without being in your mother’s arms. You hate how you feel that your life has no purpose. All you want is a simple hug or somebody who understands you.
 
“I doubt that’s true.” Kano answered. He opened his mouth to say something, but then hesitated and closed it. “[Y/n], I know this is random- but do you happen to know Ayano? I recognized the school uniform you had laid out in your room and suspected you attended the same school as her in the past.” Your eyes grew heavy as his words somehow became past triggering. “I-I just so happen to know her, yeah.” You paused. “I wasn’t exactly close with Ayano, but we’ve had our times together. It broke me when I discovered she commited suicide. . .”
 
Kano stopped in his tracks in the middle of the crowd with a depressing look in his eyes. You gently tugged on his hoodie. “Kano, is everything alright?” You senserely asked in a quiet tone. You realized tears have been rolling off his cheeks and disappearing as they dripped off. I’m so stupid! Did I say something wrong!? You had no idea what to say now considering you felt so guilty for possibly saying something triggering. “I-I’m sorry.” You gently pulled him into a hug and wrapped your arms around his neck, not knowing why you think it would make matters better.

The rest of the day seemed like a surreal blur to your mind. The two of you agreed to return back to the den later that night. You couldn’t say that the day wasn’t a waste of time considering you actually enjoyed the cheeky conversations, but it was depressing during a few brief moments as we brought up our pasts. You had no idea Kano was Ayano’s brother until now either. The sun had already shattered away by this point leaving you and Kano walking out and under the bright street lights on the side of the road. You glanced down and noticed Kano’s hand has been briefly brushing against yours every now and then, not that it could possibly mean anything. “Ah- [Y/n], may I ask you something? It’s something I need an answer on.” He blurted. Anxiety started kicking in and your heart raced faster. “Y-Yeah, sure. . .” You nervously replied. Kano continued looking straight ahead for a few second, then cocked his heads towards you-
 
“Why do you have shirtless pictures of guys on your phone?” He asked, completely ruining the unappealing dramatic moment and instead drove you to embarrassment and panic.
“W-What!? No! I don’t have pictures of-“ You looked into his eyes and mischief smile.
 
He knows what he saw when I was on my phone earlier scrolling through those pictures. Crap. . .
 
“There’s no denying it, [Y/n]!” He chuckled. “I never thought such an ‘innocent’ girl as yourself would be into those things.” You felt your face completely turning red.
“S-Shut up!”
“How many pictures of those shirtless guys do you have?”

“Kano?” Momo blurted as the two of you stepped into the main room where everyone was talking.
“Hm?”
“Why do you have an imprint of a hand on your cheek?”
